Gold-Zack building with Band Weaver Museum

The factory building of the Cosmann, Villbrandt & Zehnder belt factory (built in 1910) was one of the most modern factory buildings of its time in Wuppertal. The façade is characterised by its large windows and pillars and clearly shows the reinforced concrete construction. The factory at Wiesenstraße 118 wove elastic bands such as braces and bodice bands, which became world-famous under the name ‘Gold-Zack’. In 1975, as part of the redevelopment of Elberfeld's Nordstadt district, the building became the ‘Gewerbehof Nordstadt’ and was listed as a historical monument at an early stage.

Today, the ribbon weaving museum is located on the second floor of the building. An old ribbon weaving room, three looms over 100 years old and a modern automatic needle machine illustrate the development of ribbon weaving.

Programme
Open from 11:00 to 16:00
On the hour: guided tour of the building and company history (meeting point in front of the building), guided tour of the exhibition in small groups.

Location: Gold-Zack building

Manuelskotten

With the Manuelskotten - a water-powered grinding shop for cutlery - the city of Wuppertal has a special kind of industrial-historical monument. Nestled in the narrow valley of the Kaltenbach stream, the Kotten is located halfway between Cronenberg and Kohlfurth. It is unique in the entire region due to the different types of drive that are gathered under its roof. With a water wheel, steam engine, diesel engine, generator and electric motor, it provides an overview of the history of energy generation since the Middle Ages. The Manuelskotten is still used for commercial grinding and sharpening today. Thanks to the largely unchanged technology and minimal intervention in the surroundings of the cottage, an authentic situation can be presented.

Programme
The grinding cottage is open from 10:30 to 16:30.

Location: Manuelskotten,
Kaltenbacher Kotten 1
42349 Wuppertal

Further information on the Manuelskotten can be found on the website of the Manuelskotten e.V. support association.
